If you are searching for the CBS TV schedule tonight, you are probably looking for a quick way to find out what is airing, when your favorite show starts, and whether the evening lineup includes sports, news, drama, reality television, or entertainment. CBS offers a broad mix of programming, and its schedule can change depending on the day, local station, and live sporting events.
For Sunday, September 6, 2026, CBS is between its summer programming period and the main fall premiere season. CBS’s official schedule page provides current listings and upcoming programming, while the network’s fall announcements confirm that its major 2026-27 premiere week begins in October.
CBS TV Schedule Tonight
CBS programming is particularly useful for viewers who enjoy a mixture of news, reality shows, crime stories, sports, and established entertainment programs. On a Sunday, the network’s evening schedule traditionally features programs that lead viewers from the weekend into the new week.
One important point is that local CBS schedules can differ. A CBS affiliate may have local news, special programming, or sports coverage that changes the exact start time of national programming. Live sporting events can also cause later shows to begin later than their advertised times.
The best place to verify the latest lineup is the official CBS schedule, which provides TV listings and upcoming CBS programming.
Why Check the Schedule Before Watching?
Checking the CBS schedule before settling down for the evening can save you from missing an important episode or special event. This is especially useful during periods when CBS is showing sports or when a program is being repeated.
CBS also has a large collection of shows available through its website. For example, 60 Minutes remains one of the network’s signature Sunday programs. CBS describes the long-running newsmagazine as featuring investigative reports, interviews, and in-depth profiles.
During the summer, viewers may also encounter reality programming and other special presentations. The Amazing Race, for example, is part of CBS’s programming library and features teams traveling through different locations while competing for a $1 million prize.
CBS Fall Programming Is Coming Soon
Viewers searching for the CBS TV schedule tonight should also know that the network’s regular fall lineup is approaching. CBS announced that its official fall premiere week begins Sunday, October 4, 2026. The schedule includes returning programs and several new series.
The fall lineup includes major titles such as 60 Minutes, Marshals, Tracker, FBI, CIA, NCIS, NCIS: New York, NCIS: Origins, Fire Country, Boston Blue, and others. Some programs have premiere dates later in September or October rather than appearing in the regular lineup immediately.
This means September is an interesting transition period for CBS viewers. Some familiar shows are still between seasons, while other programs continue airing special or summer episodes.
What Can You Watch on CBS?
CBS has programming for several different types of viewers. News fans can turn to programs such as 60 Minutes. Reality-TV followers can follow competition programs such as Big Brother and The Amazing Race. Drama fans have a large selection of crime, investigation, and family-oriented series.
Big Brother is particularly relevant during the summer period. CBS’s episode guide shows that Season 28 has continued into September, with recent episodes and Big Brother: Unlocked installments appearing in the first week of the month.
The network also provides daytime entertainment, including long-running programs such as The Price Is Right and The Bold and the Beautiful. These programs are not necessarily part of the Sunday-night lineup, but they demonstrate the range of content available through CBS throughout the week.
A Simple Way to Plan Your CBS Evening
If you want to make the most of tonight’s CBS programming, start by checking your local listing rather than relying on a generic national schedule. This is important because CBS affiliates can have different local content.
Next, check whether a live sporting event is scheduled. Sports can affect the timing of programs that follow. Finally, look at the individual show’s page if you want episode information, descriptions, or streaming options.
CBS’s official website provides show pages and episode guides, making it easier to confirm whether you are watching a new episode, encore, or special presentation.
Dinner Ideas for a CBS TV Night
A relaxing television evening often feels better with an easy dinner or snack. The following prices are sample restaurant-style prices, not CBS menu prices, and will vary by restaurant and location.
| Dish | Sample Price |
|---|---|
| Classic Cheeseburger | $12.99 |
| Chicken Alfredo | $15.99 |
| BBQ Chicken Sandwich | $13.49 |
| Margherita Pizza | $14.99 |
| Chicken Wings | $11.99 |
| Loaded Nachos | $10.49 |
| Chocolate Brownie | $6.99 |
For a longer movie or television night, pizza, wings, nachos, and burgers are convenient choices because they can be shared. If you prefer something more filling, chicken Alfredo or a sandwich can work well as a complete dinner.
CBS Streaming Options
If you cannot watch CBS through traditional television, CBS also offers online viewing options. Availability depends on the program, location, and subscription or TV-provider requirements.
The network’s website includes a Live TV option as well as individual show pages. CBS also notes that programming is available for streaming through Paramount+ under its announced fall schedule.
Streaming can be particularly useful if your local CBS station has a different schedule or if you are away from home. However, viewers should check the specific program page to determine whether a particular episode is available live, on demand, or through another service.
Final Thoughts
The CBS TV schedule tonight is worth checking before you start your evening because the lineup can vary by date, local affiliate, sports coverage, and seasonal programming. On September 6, 2026, CBS is in a transition period before its major fall schedule begins in October, making the official CBS listings the safest place to confirm the exact programming for your location.
